GOOD TO KNOW...

VON: March 3, 2018 - October 31, 2022

It's time. Four and a half years ago Vincent Overlook News burst on the VO community scene to fill an information void. It offered twice-a-week commentary (Tuesdays and Thursdays like the Cape Gazette), event photos, community profiles, an active and daily updated calendar, and true to its name, the latest Vincent Overlook news. Four and a half years--and almost 27,000 visits later--it's time to go.

A revamped community governing structure--one that involves dozens of VO residents in an active committee arrangement--is now responsible for everything that the nascent VON website started out doing. Times have changed, as has the way we receive our news. Websites like Next Door and social media platforms like Facebook connect residents easily.

Since the pandemic, VON tried to adjust to the times by becoming less of a news site and more of a community calendar and document archive, but visits per day to the site have continued to drop to single-digit levels. Yup, the message is clear. It's time to go.

So here's one last item of news from this desk: VON will go dark after the evening of October 31, 2022. Thank you to all the many, many supporters who encouraged and enabled my efforts over the years. It has been my pleasure to showcase and serve Vincent Overlook in my own way. I'm not moving away...I'm just moving on. -JPZ
